Engineer | Managed Services

The Solutions Engineer is responsible for the technical implementations for clients, billable and non-billable ongoing support and non-product tied services in a consistent and effective manner. The Solutions Engineer is also responsible for product and operational knowledge and the ability to convey that knowledge to the Client. This exempt position may require travel, as well as evening, weekend, and on-call work in addition to normal business hours. The reports directly to the Director of Managed Services. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide support for products and services remotely involving unique environments and configurations; this may include troubleshooting, implementation, customizations, integrations and product orientation for the client.
  • Performs daily/weekly/monthly management of basic to complex Client environments, this may include installing and upgrading software / code, configuring network interfaces, configuring files systems, running scripts, testing / validating final product solutions and developing appropriate client configuration guides.
  • Learn and maintain current and in-depth knowledge of Solution II’s Core technologies and related products and solutions as it relates to your skill set.
  • Create detailed, accurate and concise professional documentation and reports for Clients.
  • Regularly communicates status of all applicable client issues to the team and manager.
  • Ensure effective resolution of technical issues encountered managing Client environments.
  • Works and communicates well other team members.
  • Takes all appropriate actions steps to ensure Client’s environments are running appropriately and as designed.
  • Performs assignments and/or special projects as assigned.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to provide after-hours, weekend, and holiday support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 4+ years’ experience in Datacenter Operations and/or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Industry Specific Certifications preferred 

Required Skills and Expectations

Infrastructure & Systems Administration: 

  • Strong familiarity with datacenter infrastructure: compute, storage, and networking
  • Experience with converged and hyper-converged infrastructure is a plus
Virtualization Administration Experience: 
  • VMware and VMware vSAN (VMware VCP 7.0+ certification a plus)
  • Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Administration of:
    • Windows Server 2019 – current (certifications a plus)
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 – 9 (certifications a plus)
    • Experience with enterprise storage systems (e.g., IBM, NetApp, HPE, Dell/EMC) 

Networking & Data Protection: 

  • General network administration experience
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery methodologies and technologies
  • Experience with Veeam is a plus 

Technical Support & Communication: 

  • Comfortable resolving technical issues for end users (onsite and remote)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using logic and reasoning
  • Strong documentation habits and practices
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills 

Additional Skills: 

  • Familiarity with the Office 365 application suite is a plus 

Criminal History Background Check:

Compensation

Our competitive compensation package includes an attractive base salary, commissions, bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.

Compensation Range: $75,000 - $110,000
